The Bethlehem Star Archive

The Bethlehem Star, a weekly newspaper that seldom shied from engaging on hot-button issues, began publication in December of 1993. Its short-lived run ended the following December of 1994.

In the mid-90s, owner Thomson Newspapers began selling off many of its papers (and would later merge with Reuters in 2008).  The Bethlehem Star (and its sister paper, The Express-Times) sold to MediaNews Group.  Editor Gerald Scharf opined in the March 3 issue that the sale would not affect the Star's publication: "We've been assured that the people of MediaNews Group love cheeky little community newspapers like ours."  ...Alas, it was not to be.

All 42 issues are offered here in PDF format. Please contact the info@bapl.org with any questions.
